About The 4th International Convention on Indonesian Upstream Oil & Gas 2023
The post-pandemic global economy, dynamics in geopolitics, and the pressure of energy transition have resulted in the fluctuation of energy prices, which adds to the dynamics and challenges of the oil and gas industry. Since end of last year, the conversation of energy trilemma has shifted toward energy security and affordability to secure economic growth of countries.
The call for Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, with a promising economic growth and high potential of oil and gas resources is high to seize the momentum to increase energy security through sustainable oil and gas exploration and development that in turn can secure clean energy for the people.
To achieve that goal, since 2020 SKK Migas has convened the International Convention on Indonesia Upstream Oil and Gas. It is a collaborative event from domestic and international stakeholders to increase cooperation in creating a conducive investment climate, and promote creativity to support the optimization of Indonesia’s oil and gas potentials, through exploration and development activities. This convention is an important milestone in achieving the ambitious target of 1 million BOPD and 12 BSCFD gas in 2030, and in parallel reducing emissions.
The 4th International Convention on Indonesia Upstream Oil and Gas will lead conversation on “Advancing Energy Security through Sustainable Oil and Gas Exploration and Development”. It is hoped that this Convention will produce and provide recommendations for policies and enablers to support Indonesia’s effort in advancing the country’s energy security through exploration and development activities, and pushing investment growth to support energy transition.
